One of my other passions is traveling. My mom has always liked traveling and meeting new places, so I think that made me curious and wanting to always meet new places. When I was little I went to live to the states for about 1 year and a half. I remember that I would just talk in spanish in my kindergarten and all the kids would look at me like if I was a freak. It was pretty hard for me. After being a year or 6 months on that kindergarten, I changed to another one. In this new kindergarten I made a lot of more friends, and my best friend was Hanna. A year after being in the US I moved back to CR. Two years later, I went with my mom, little brother and grandma to my uncle’s college graduation in Spain. When we arrived we went to my uncles apartment. It was so messy that you could easily notice he is my uncle. After his graduation I really wanted to go to London, so we all went to England and my grandma went to the Netherlands. I dont remember really well ALL the things that we did, but I really remember the double-decker buses and Legoland!! Legoland is an amusement park, but all made of LEGOOO!!! It was really cool. My brother was only 6v months old, so my mom had to stay with him but I went on all the rides with my uncle. I really enjoy new adventures and the feeling of adrenalin. Of all the rides I went the one I remember the most and not by looking at the pictures, was the dragon roller coaster. After being like a week in London, my mom wanted to visit Switzerland because when she was 13 years old she lived in Switzerland for 2 years. I did like Switzerland, but it wasn’t as exciting as London. We went to where my mom used to live, and the “mom” still lived there. There was this really nice park, and my brother tried his first chocolate! I don’t quite remember much, but I remember I was REEAAALLLLYYY happy to come back home. After that I didn’t travel that much. When I was 7 I went with my grandma and two cousins to Cancun. It was a nice trip because I became closer to my cousins, and now we have a really strong relationship. Then in 2002 I went to Washington D.C. It was really nice because I went to my old kindergarten and my teacher still teached there! We also went to the old pizza place where you used to eat THE best pizzas ever, but it was close =(. I think that the saddest thing was when I saw Hanna. I was only 8 years old, but I still had mixed emotions when I saw her. It was so cool seeing how she changed and ow her personality was. After that day I never saw her again, but I wont ever forget that day. Last year I traveled a lot!! In January 07 I went with 2 cousins of mine, my mom and my brother. It was amazing. We first went to vermont to ski/snowboard. It was really cool when we arrived because my cousins and my brother had never seen snow, so you could see the bright/spark in their eyes when they saw the snow. The last time that I had seen snow was when I was 3 so it was also a very special feeling. One really cool thing was that I spent my birthday there, so I had a fun time. After we went to Orlando, DISNNEEYY!! When I went on the Hollywood Tower of Terror, I was so scared!! My cousin was also scared that when she was holding my mom’s hand she “digged” her nails into my mom’s hand and made her bleed. Also in island’s of adventures we went on the hulk roller coaster 12 times in a row!!!!!!! It was a great experience. In February I went to again to Cancun. It was a nice trip, but the first one I liked it so much that I had really big expectations for this one, so I didn’t enjoy it that much. March…..AASCA IN PANAMA!!!! I was so excited when I got chosen that I just couldn’t believe I was going to my first international soccer tournament. In August before entering school, I went for 4 days to San Andres, Colombia. It was really nice, because first I had never been to Colombia, or to such a pretty island. Also something that made it really nice was that I was able to see one of my best friends. January of 2008 I went again to Vermont. It was really nice and all, but I didn’t go with my cousins so it was as fun as last years. Instead of going to Orlando we went to Boston and NYC!!!!! I looked like a freak jumping up and down when I arrived in times square. It was THE best thing!! I also went to broadway to see The Phantom of the Opera. It was so cool. My last trip was on March when I went to El Salvador to the AASCA Tournament. On vacations I am going to go for 17 days to Paris, France. I am so exited because I am going with my grandma and my other two cousins. We are the only three girls in our family, so it is going to be nice that we are not surrounded by boys! I am also looking forward to getting to know my cousins way better and we can get to be friends not only because we are cousins. The thing I love about traveling is that every time you get in the plain you are going to go explore something new, and at the end you might be sad that you are coming back but you are happy you are back home!!!

On wednesday 7, with my entire grade I went to Manuel Antonio. The firtst day we had to be in the school at 6:00am because the bus was going to leave at 6:30am. When we got there we were divided into two different bus, because some of us picked the superman zip-line for our “tour” in Turubari and some picked canopy. Turubari was a place like two hours away from Manuel Antonio. We stopped there to have breakfast, do our “ride” and then have lunch. When we were gong on the bus to our way to turubari, our bus broke down. We didn’t know what to do, fortunately a bus driver stopped and sad that he could help us by taking us to Turubari. When we arrived all of us were very hungry and hot and wanting to pee. After we had breakfast we were againgdivided into the same two groups. Once we were divided the canopy group when ahead first. When we started goigup the tower for the zip-line I was so scared that I almost peed my pants. Once up there they started to put on us ll our equipment. After 20 of us had our equipment on they started to lug us in the zipline and we would just go! I was the sixth person. I was really scared, and I was regretting that why had I chosed this activity. Once I started I was screaming as hard as I could, and I ccidentally said some bad words. Once we were all done, we had to do the hike. Only that the hike was a two ho walk! We all complained and then one of our teachers said that we weren’t going to do the hike. Then we walked to the place in which we were going to have lunch. There the canopy group already had lunch. We ate for about an tour and then we started walking to catch up with the canopy group. After we were all odne we ate ice-cream and got back on the bus. Then it was a two hour ride. Once we ¡were at the hotel we had trouble with the rooms but finally got our rooms. We had dinner and then we ould be in the pool fr about an hour and a half. Then at 10:30pm, lights out! On thursday our teachers woked us up at 6:00 am bea¡cause we were doing white water rafting. When we got on the bus, we drove for about 30 minutes until we arrived to the place we were going to have breakfast. Aftyer breakfast we got on the buses and drove for about one hour and a half. When we got to the place of the rafting, we had to get into small groups for the rafting boats. We did rafting for about two hours or more and when we finished we ate lunch there next to the river. When we finished we got on the bus and came back to the hotel. When we got we got the oportunity to be for about two hours in the beach and then we could be on the pool. After having dinner we had the Lord of the Flies fashion show. It was really cool. Then we got some chill time around the pool and in the rooms and then we went to sleep. On friday our teachers woke us up at 7:00 am and we went to the park. We were divided into two groups, one for community service and other beach time and then we switched. After having lunch we got our bags into the bus and came ome. It was an excelent trip!

Another of my passions is gymnastics. I don’t practice this sport anymore, but I still like seeing it in TV or go match my cousins in competitions. I started practicing gymnastics when I was 7 years old. I was in love with this sport. In gymnastics there are 10 levels. When I entered I was in level 4. The good thing was that when I started there was a froup of about 4 girls of my same age, and we all stayed together. When I turned eight years old I advanced to level 5. In this level, in floor, we had to do round-off double backhandspring. I had a lot of problems trying to do the round-off double backhandspring. In vault, we just had to do the ” paloma”. In bars our routine was really easy, and evrytime that I had a competition I would always do excellent. The beam was where I wuld ALWAYS would do terrible! Because of beam I couldn’t advance level. All my friends that where with me in level 5 advanced to level 7 because they could do a backhandspring in beam, but I just couldn’t. In all the other “equipments” (floor, bars and vault) I had all the right “moves” or capacity to be in level 7, but beam was in my way. I quitted gymnastic when I turned 9 but I had to come back so two months later I entered gymnastics again This time I did all I could, but my coach said taht she couldn’t upgrade me to level 7 until the end of the year. Eventhough I could not try at all because in January I would start level 7, I still went to all practices. We had practice every day from 5pm to 9pm. On Saturdays we went from 8 am to 12pm, then we had lunch there in the gym and strated again form 2 pm to 8pm. When we had competition we would also trianed on sundays. When I turned 11 i decided to quit gymnastics. I just couldn’t handle anymore, I mean, I couldn’t go out with my friends and I didn’t had a social life. Also I had a lot of problems with my school because evrytime I went to a competition I would lose a lot of school work. I still like gymnastics a lot and I sometimos watch it in TV or go watch my cousins in their competitions. But there is sometthing that I am sure about, it is that eventhough I love gymnastics I can’t go back.

I know that all my other posts have been about my passion for soccer, but I thought that maybe I should also write about my other passions. One of them is jazz. I’ve been dancing since I was little, but stopped many times. I started when I was about 3 years old, but in that time I used to dance ballet. I stopped when I was about five because all of my friends also quit, so I didn’t want to be left behind. Later on when I was about 11 years old or 12 I joined the dance academy, Dance Works Costa Rica in Trilogia. I started in the group “turquesa” which is beginners. I dance through the entire year and at the end in December or November we had a show with the whole academy. The next year I skipped “rojas” and joined “lilas” that was advanced. With the lilas I went to the DEA(dance educators of America) in which we had tap, ballet and jazz classes with educators of America. Then the fourth day we had the competition in which I danced with the song “Hollywood.” Our academy had 10 choreographies and many won platinum or gold. My dance got silver =(. After the DEA I quit jazz. Last year in April I started dancing again at the same academy. I had the choice to join “azules” that is beginners or join “grises” which is intermediate II I danced through the entire year and then at the end of the year we had the academy show/presentation. This year I was supposed to start with the “vino” which is intermediate III, but the academy put me with the “negras” which are the advanced, before the “compañia”. The compañia is the one that represents the academy in other countries, specially in the US. It is divided into three groups; compañia senior, teen and junior. I think I have been doing a great job with the negras. This Sunday the acadmeny has a family day, and all the groups are supposed to do their own dance. So we hope that ours is the best with the song “Low”!!!

Our team consists of 16 players. Our captain for 2 years has been Alex Mekler. She has been playing soccer since little and her first AASCA was in 7 grade, now she is a senior. She plays a libero and thanks to her the players from the other teams dont score. Our sub-captain is Lara Carlow. She plays in front of Alex. She started playing with the team last year and has improved really good! Our right defense is Maude Pires. Her first AASCA was in 9 grade. Our left defense is Jana Atkinson and her first AASCA was in 8 grade. She was going to play as our goalie but couldnt because of her knee problems. Our center mid-fielder is Jessica Nunez and Nicole Lamas. This year was Jessicas first year in the team and Nicole’s was last year. Our left mid-fielder is Camille Garnier and she started to play with the team last year. I am the right mid-fielder and I started to play with the team last year. Our two forwards are Marian Fishman and Daniela Mekler. This year Marian scored 9 goals in the tournament and even won a trofee. Daniela played as goalie this year because our goalie, Melissa Rodriguez, broke her leg three days before the tournament. The subs are Ryan, Nadine Cordero and Ruve Pires. Our coach, JOse Manuel Artavia played for 15 years with the team Cartagines and has been the coach for the varsity team for many years. These team is the one who got in 3 place last year and this year in 2 place!!

So, what does freedom mean to you? How does this relate to you as a blogger? Take the time to evaluate your definition of freedom and how it relates to you and the Internet. Post your answer on your blog. However, personal comments are welcome. For me, freedom is that you are free! I really like that Ms. Rumford did this question and related it with US History. I enjoy that as a blogger we have the right to write what we think or believe with out being harassed. In the United States you have the right so say whatever you believe like Bush is dumb or something similar, and you cannot go to jail. What I like about the edublogs, is that Ms. Rumford is just letting us say whatever we want to say. Obviously we have to be careful with our comments or posts, but we just have the freedom of speech. If I want to give my opinion on something, but it is a negative opinion I have the freedom to do it. But always freedom of speech has its negative effects. If you insult someone in edublogs you can get kicked out of the network, but they have the right to do it. I mean this, because they are giving us the freedom to write what we believe, but we don’t have to abuse of that power. Everyone has the right of freedom of speech and we can write what we believe and just be happy!

I think you can already see that I LOVE SOCCER! Since I was little I’ve played soccer with my cousins, that is when I started “loving” soccer. When I was in first grade in the Panamerican school I would be the only girl in the team. I was mid-fielder and will always fight with the boys on the team. In second grade, more girls joined the team, so they made a just girls soccer team. I was named captain but stayed on the team until half of 3 grade because I changed schools. In my other school, just my two best-friends and I played soccer so we were in the boys team. Although, two months later the team was canceled because not many people signed for it. So, I was really sad, so I would only play soccer with my cousins or friends. When I entered CDS in fifth grade I didn’t get in the team because I was two small. In sixth grade I tried again. This time I wasn’t a starter, but at least I was in the team. After a month o so of playing in the team I realized that I loved playing as goalie. Then, I became the official goalie. Just before the final, my math teacher kicked me out of the team because of my bad grade in math, so this time I was REALLY sad. In 7 grade I joined the team again, but this time I was also playing in the Varsity team. In middle school, the coach didn’t let me change to mid-fielder so I had to play as goalie. In the Varsity team I started as defense and was the supplementary goalie. I was really thrilled when the coach from the Varsity team picked me to go to the AASCA Tournament held in Panama. Even though, I was in the Varsity team I still had to attend the middle school practices and games. Our middle school coach wasn’t happy when I told I was going to go to Panama. Now, in 8 grade I was the sub-captain of the middle school team and a starter in the Varsity team. This year we won the action tournament in the middle school team, winning the final 7-1. In the Varsity team we went to AASCA in El Salvador and got in 2 place. On both teams I play as center mid-field and I do the corner kicks. In the middle school team I do the goalie kicks, corner kicks and free kicks. I really love soccer and I hope I will continue playing it until I am really old!!!
